 | FOR ALL YOU STRIPER FISHERMAN HERE IS THE STRAIGHT SCOPE...THE FISHING
BEHIND CROTON POINT, ESPECIALLY ON A DAY WHEN THE PRESSURE IS LOW, SUCH AS
TODAY, IS TERRIFIC. FISHING WHERE THE FRESH WATER FROM THE CROTON RIVER HITS
THE BROWN WATER OF THE HUDSON RIVER IS BEST. THE SCHOOLS OF STRIPERS MOVE
AROUND FEEDING HERE. USE CHARTREUSE RUBBER WORMS, (6 INCHES WITH THE CURLEY
TAIL) OR 123 COUNT DOWN LURES SUCH AS RAPALLA'S, RATTLETRAPS, ETC. FISHING
OUT OFF OF CROTON POINT WITH FRESH HERRING IS SLOW BUT WILL CATCH BIGGER
FISH. AS OF THIS DATE THE FISH ARE NOT ANY FURTHER NORTH. ONE MORE THING THE
FISHING BETWEEN THE TZ BRIDGE AND PIERMONT IS ALSO VERY GOOD.

 | Well, this weather this week, with the snow in the forecast for Tuesday
could snow our stripers up a bit, but I wouldn't get to upset. These muddy
water conditions are really keeping the big stripers from proceeding north
more. I have received many reports of decent size stripers being caught as
far north as Beacon/Newburgh, and most of those reports came in middle of
last week. For all you guys who have been emailing me about the herring, I
should start having a plentiful stock of them in the next week to week and a
half... in the meantime I will email you the street address and all you will
have to do is go to Expedia.com,
and choose driving directions, the rest is self explanatory. And please
guys, if you have any info to share on the striper run, please email me. |

 | Well I have gotten the first sign of good news for this years season,
after speaking with some of the commercial fishermen in the Hudson Valley I
learned that they have been getting a lot of herring in there nets already.
And hearing this means the stripers wont be long behind. Water
temperature has climbed to 47 degrees. |
April 4, 2001

the Hudson Valley.. Some rumors of activity was reported in the area of the
